Group Exhibition: The Geometry of Creation – Anti-Rhythmic Structures

The group exhibition The Geometry of Creation: Anti-Rhythmic Structures was held on September 27, 2024, at Ivan Gallery in Tehran, featuring 44 video art pieces by international artists. According to the exhibition statement, the theme "reveals a fascinating dialogue between order and chaos in existence," reflecting the concept of infinite geometry or fractal patterns frequently observed in nature.

Fractal patterns are scientifically generated through mathematical formulas, serving as a shared concept between mathematics and art. This allows artists to incorporate the complexities of natural systems into their creative works. These structures not only enhance the visual quality of images but also, due to their symbolic nature, encourage viewers to contemplate order and disorder, the concept of infinity, and the perpetual state of change.

In the recent Platform 101 exhibition, video artists explored fractal structures in various ways. Artists like Yasamin Asgharzadeh and Yant Villamedina created fractal-like patterns by presenting diverse geometric forms and generating new shapes through intentional and accidental glitches. Their works offered purely visual representations of these structures. Others, such as Muriel Paraboni, used a mobile phone to capture a video of a sculpted piece, challenging the dualities inherent in fractals—such as solidity and fluidity, image and reality. Niloufar Bani Asadi titled her work Fractal Geometry of the Carpet / Flower of Life, emphasizing how the natural world around us serves as an endless source of wonder.
